The coal segment is expected to dominate the market due to its easy availability as raw material and also its application in the production of syngas. Asia Pacific syngas market is consolidating as large players complementing each other's businesses by means of collaborations and acquisitions. For instance, in 2011 Linc Energy acquired significant oil producing assets in Louisiana and Texas.
The surge in demand for synthetic gas from the chemical industry is one of the primary reasons propelling the global syngas market forward. This is because syngas is used to make synthetic natural gas (SNG), which is used in the rail, marine, and road transportation industries as liquefied natural gas (LNG) and compressed natural gas (CNG) (CNG).
